Oat Flour

Oat flour is one of the best gluten-free flours. Instead of the protein gluten which is common in wheat and rye grains, oat flour is rich in avenins - an oat specific set of proteins. Oat flour is rich in soluble and insoluble fiber. Beta-glucan soluble fibers in oat flour limit the absorption of  cholesterol into body. Dietary fiber intake has been linked with reduced risk of coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease. Oats are constantly recognized as one of nature's best satiating plants -- they keep you feeling full! Great fiber content, plant-based protein, trace minerals and filling, oats are an amazing natural ingredient.

Chia Seed

Chia seeds are tiny black seeds that are native to South America. Chia is the ancient Mayan word for strength and for good reason. One ounce of chia seeds contains 11g of fiber, 4g of protein and 9g of fat. Of the fat, 3 grams are omega-3’s which are an essential set of fats that the body needs but most people with a Western diet do not get enough of. These fats cannot be produced by the body and have been linked with reduced risks of colon and breast cancer. Chia has more omega-3’s than salmon gram for gram. Chia seeds are high in quality protein that is a very friendly weight loss nutrient as it reduces the appetite for snacking. The benefits received from the high content of essential omega-3 fatty acids, protein, iron, fiber, calcium, potassium, vitamins A, B, E and D made chia seeds a favorite for mayan runners and a favorite of ours.

Flaxseed

Known as a nutritional powerhouse, flaxseeds are rich in fiber, omega-3’s and lignans. Flaxseeds are a low-carb friendly food (In 100g of carbs, there is 1.5g of carbs). Their high fiber content naturally suppresses hunger and promotes digestive health. The omega-3 content of flaxseeds consists of alpha linolenic acid (ALA) which decreases inflammation by reducing pro-inflammatory proteins. The lignans in flaxseed promote lower levels of cholesterol as well.

Natural Cacao

Natural cacao powder is made up from raw cacao that comes from the Theobroma Cacao tree. Cacao is packed with antioxidants and flavanols. The flavanols in cacao have been state to support the elasticity of blood vessels which therefore supports blood flow. Cacao has over 40 the number of antioxidants of blueberries. Antioxidants absorb free radicals which can cause cell and tissue damage leading to diseases like cancer. Radicals can enter the body from toxins and pollution in the environment. Cacao is the highest plant based source of iron, more than both spinach and beef!. It is also the highest plant based source of magnesium, a nutrient deficient in Western diets. Cacao continues to be impressive by having more calcium than milk. The combination the bliss chemicals of serotonin, dopamine, anadamide and phenlethylamine boosts mood and is a natural antidepressant.

Whey Protein Isolate

Whey protein isolate is a the purest and most complete form of protein that comes from whey. The two other forms include whey concentrate and whey hydrolysate. Whey is known for its proven benefits in building and maintaining muscle tone and reducing fat tissue. Like our other ingredients it keeps you full and keeps you from eating those unnecessary calories. The peptide content of whey protein exert positive effects on lowering blood pressure. Tryptophan and glutamine are two special amino acids found in whey. Tryptophan helps with the production of the happy and mood stabilizing neurotransmitter called serotonin. Glutamine furthers aids with staying calm and reducing anxiety levels. Whey protein isolate has essential amino acids for muscle repair that is good for reduction of tissue damage and increased performance. Whey isolate has less than 1% lactose making it good for people who react poorly or are intolerant to lactose. Compared to casein protein, whey protein is quickly digestible. The amino acid leucine found in whey promotes the synthesis of muscle protein and further promotes the loss of fat tissue due to the energy required by the body to burn leucine. Whey isolate has 50% more of this amino acid than the two other forms of whey, making it a particularly good fat burner.
